Visiting Experts
The “Visiting Experts” concept embedded in the MDE is designed to bring
distance education scholars, researchers, and practitioners into the
online classroom to facilitate a course module or short-term discussion
on their topics of expertise. Students read books and articles written
by their visiting experts and then have the opportunity to directly
interact with them online in class. This approach is important not only
in ensuring that the program curriculum is informed by the latest
developments in the field, but also in helping students broaden their
interests, understand the importance of research, and make
theory-to-practice connections.
